About HostTracker
HostTracker at a glance
HostTracker is an external website monitoring service. It checks websites, servers and APIs from outside your own network, around the clock, and tells you when one of them stops working.
- 14 monitor types: HTTPS uptime, ping, TCP port, API, browser transaction, page speed, web content, database query, custom counter, SNMP, DNS blacklist, domain expiry, SSL certificate expiry and Google Web Risk.
- Over 300 checkpoints worldwide, running on around 460 distributed agent machines. A failure is re-checked from other locations before you are alerted, so a single bad route does not raise an alarm.
- 15 alert channels: email, SMS, voice call, HTTP webhook, Slack, Mattermost, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Pushbullet, Telegram, Viber, Facebook Messenger, Discord, Google Chat and web push.
- Public status pages are part of every plan, with incidents, maintenance windows, email subscribers and an embeddable uptime badge.
- Everything the web app does is available to machines too: a REST API with 182 operations, SDKs for JavaScript, Python, .NET and Go, the ht-cli command line tool, a Terraform provider and an MCP server an AI agent can drive.
- Monitoring websites since 2004.
HostTracker is built for the people responsible for more than one site: web agencies, hosting resellers and webmasters who run many domains at once.

What does HostTracker do?
HostTracker repeats a check on the schedule you choose, from once a minute upwards, and records whether the target answered, how long it took and what it returned. When a check fails it is repeated from other locations; once the failure is confirmed HostTracker opens an incident and notifies the contacts you picked, then closes the incident when the target recovers. The stored results become uptime statistics, scheduled reports and, if you want one, a public status page.
Where does HostTracker check from?
Availability checks run from a distributed network of around 460 agent machines, grouped into over 300 checkpoints worldwide, so you can tell a real outage from a problem on one route. You choose which regions each monitor uses. Checks that need a private vantage point instead, such as database queries, SNMP counters, blacklist lookups and Google Web Risk verdicts, run on HostTracker's own infrastructure.
